HONEY FUCKING DIJON

It’s Honey, baby! Honey Dijon, the legendary DJ, fashion icon and international fixture of queer nightlife, charges her eponymous clothing line with the same borderless energy that’s driven her career for over 3 decades. The idea behind it stems from the philosophy she embodies — calling it a mirror of affirmation, she aims to reflect possibility, potential and the freedom of self-fulfillment. Despite the label’s emphasis on her name, Ms. Dijon has never centered herself in the work, opting to function as part of a space as opposed to its draw. It’s always been about the setting, the music and what the clothes can do for those who choose to wear them. It’s precisely this approach that has yielded her both longevity and esteem from the beau monde and old heads alike. With a body of work spanning genre-defying albums, runway soundtracks, live sets and so forth, the artist has had a considerable hand in shaping popular and underground lexicons of music since she started spinning records in the late 1980s.

Launched in 2019 with support from Dover Street Market, the Honey Fucking Dijon collection celebrates what it feels like to turn loose, a love letter to what can only be felt in the moment. Her footing in disco, R&B and house music shine through each collection, present especially in the Peter Paid graphics that pay respect to the people, the places and the songs that built the culture in which she operates. Her clothes are meant to be worn out, to be seen, to be a party to wherever the night takes you. HFD is a gleaming incarnation of the club, arming its dwellers with material that shows out on either side of the booth.
